Planting Design In Birmingham

Green Tree Icon

The planting schemes I produce create the WOW factor. Designing stunning plant combinations requires extensive horticultural knowledge and an acute understanding of how plant texture, scent, shape and colour work together to create lasting combinations throughout the year. Clients often commission schemes to problem solve difficult areas such as deep shade, drought and flooding.

Stage 1 – Visit Site

I start by taking a walk around the garden where we can discuss some ideas. After taking photographs, I will then measure the beds, take a soil sample and note the aspect and wind exposure . Areas of light and shade will also be considered to help me choose the right plants for the right place.

Stage 2 – Planting Design

Now the plants are chosen, I will carefully map them out on a scaled layout plan. Each individual plant will be represented with a circle and the plants size and species highlighted. This careful planning takes into consideration the growing conditions of each plant selected. To help you visualise the scheme sometimes a mood board will be produced. A schedule of the plants is then created for purchasing at the nursery. Finally a maintenance schedule is written to ensure you know how to take care of your plants throughout the year

Stage 3 – Plant Sourcing

Once the planting plan is completed I will source and price the plants for you using local trade nurseries. I will visit the nursery personally to hand pick large specimen trees or shrubs as their shape and size will have a great effect on the overall design. I will then arrange for delivery to your home where I will be on hand to check the plants and positions them in their correct place for planting. I can arrange for the planting if required.
