Family Garden With Levels

The Brief

Inspiration

The Design
From the lower level, curved steps lead up to a circular terrace. Opposite sits a pillar-box water feature with rill stream, creating a focal point within the space. Gravel paths link to the lawned area for the children to play. Cottage stone steps lead up to the final raised level. An oak pergola, covered with rose climbers is positioned to create a shaded seating area. From here a path leads to the utility area, housing both the shed and large composts bins. These have been cleverly screened using the pillar-box water feature.
Several specimen trees are cleverly positioned to create separation within the main areas of the garden, giving a sense of exploration and pushing the eye away from the boundary edges.
A mix of reds, pinks and pale blue classic English flowers are mixed with formal box structures and flowering evergreen shrubs. This is a garden that works for both adults and children.
